Revised Final Deadline for proposals - December 10, 2019

CALL FOR PROPOSALS for the 2020 Public Radio Engineering Conference

The Association of Public Radio Engineers is now accepting proposals for presentations for the expanded 2020 Public Radio Engineering Conference (PREC) to be held April 15, 16, and 17,
2020.

The PREC is now in its 20th year, attended by radio engineers, production personnel, as well as broadcast operations and senior management staff.  As noted, like last year, the 2020 conference will again cover three days: a half-day Wednesday afternoon, all day on Thursday, and a second half-day beginning Friday morning. This slight shift better accommodates the “one day earlier” NAB conference schedule of 2020.

PREC is an educational conference. We are looking for technical presentations that are neither marketing, nor promoting a specific product, company, or service.  The attendees are highly technical and attend the conference to find innovative ideas, solutions to problems, and educational enrichment to carry back to their stations. Our goal is to offer a variety of presentations based upon peer knowledge & experiences, manufacturer solutions, and educational papers that will benefit the public radio broadcast engineering community.

TIMELINE:  We are accepting proposals through December 10, 2019. We will send out acceptance notices by the end of December 2019.

TOPICS:  Including but not limited to - Emerging technology & techniques; RF theory and innovations of antennas & transmitters; audio production techniques and solutions; operations including automation and traffic systems; STLs and studio links; console technology; SNMP; budget planning; legal issues & compliance and advocacy;  virtualization; facility upgrades; emerging technology; digital services including video, streaming, podcasting, news coverage, and more.

DETAILS:  Session slots are typically 30-45 minutes with an additional 10 minute Q&A period at the end of the presentation.

WHEN/WHERE: Las Vegas at the Tuscany Suites, April 15-17, 2020.

CONTACT:  You may send your presentation proposals to presentations@apre.us where it will be reviewed by the presentations committee for possible selection.
